Most conversations end twice.
The first ending is obvious.
People leave.
The messages stop.
The door closes.
Life moves on.
The second ending takes longer.
Sometimes years.
It's the conversation that keeps replaying in your head.
The one where you finally think of the right response.
The one where you explain yourself better.
The one where you win.
At least in your imagination.
What's strange is that many of us spend more time in the second conversation than the first.
We keep editing it.
Rewriting it.
Improving it.
As if the perfect version might somehow change what already happened.
One day something shifts.
Not because you found the perfect response.
Because you stopped looking for it.
The conversation doesn't disappear.
You simply stop trying to rewrite it.
And maybe that's the real ending.
Not when the memory leaves.
When the negotiation with the memory does.
If you've ever caught yourself arguing with a moment that ended years ago, you're welcome to stay for the next reflection.
