Not teaching. Not convincing. Just noticing what remains after the noise.

Privacy Policy

1. Who we are and what this policy covers

This policy explains what personal data Quiet After Noise collects when you use the Service, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and the rights you have. “Personal data” means information that identifies you, such as your name, email address, or profile picture.

2. What we collect

  • Account data. When you sign in with Google or Facebook, we store your name, email address, and profile picture, along with a member record identifying you.
  • Content you create. Wall posts, comments, likes, follows, and reports you make, including timestamps.
  • Notifications and preferences. A record of the notifications we send you (e.g. likes, comments, follows), your read/unread state, your sound and do-not-disturb settings, and any web-push subscription you opt into.
  • Technical data. Standard server logs may include your IP address and browser information for security and operational purposes.

3. Why we collect it

We use this data to operate the Service: to authenticate you, to show you the Wall and who posted what, to deliver notifications you opted into, to moderate content, and to keep the Service secure. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.

4. How the Service stores data on your device

The Service is designed to be fast and work offline. To do this, your browser stores a local copy of the content you have access to (articles, Wall posts, comments, likes, follows) in your device’s IndexedDB, together with small preferences such as your theme and notification settings. This local copy is kept in sync with our servers and is cleared when you clear your browser data or delete your account.

5. Third parties

We use the following providers to run the Service:

  • Google and Facebook for sign-in. They share your name, email, and profile picture with us only when you choose to sign in, under their own privacy policies.
  • CockroachDB (cloud database) stores account and content data.
  • Resend delivers notification emails you opt into; browser push services (e.g. Mozilla’s autopush) deliver web-push notifications.

6. Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active and content remains published. When you delete your account (see the Data Deletion page), your personal data is removed or anonymized, your authored content is deleted, and notification delivery stops.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can exercise most of these directly in the Service — including full deletion via the Data Deletion page. For anything else, contact us below and we will respond within a reasonable time.

8. Children

The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes

We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
