I used to think life moved in straight lines.
School ended.
Friendships ended.
Jobs ended.
Relationships ended.
A chapter closed and that was that.
Then I got older.
And I started noticing something strange.
Old chapters don't always stay closed.
Sometimes a name appears on your phone after years of silence.
Sometimes a place you haven't thought about in a decade suddenly comes back into your life.
Sometimes a conversation you thought was finished quietly returns, asking a different question than before.
What's interesting is that the chapter rarely returns in the same form.
The people are older.
You're older.
The context is different.
The power dynamics are different.
Even the memories feel different.
The situation may look familiar, but it isn't the same situation anymore.
Neither are you.
I think that's why these moments feel so unusual.
We expect the past to return exactly as we left it.
It almost never does.
Instead, it returns as a mirror.
Not showing us who we were.
Showing us who we have become.
And maybe that's the real reason some chapters come back.
Not because life forgot to finish them.
But because life waited until we were ready to see them differently.
If something in this stayed with you, perhaps you’ll feel at home here. Alhamdulillah. 💚
