There are people who still cross your mind years later.

Not every day.

Not even every month.

But often enough to remind you they're still somewhere inside the story.

Most advice about moving on sounds like eviction.

Remove it.

Forget it.

Get past it.

As if the goal is to leave no trace behind.

Life doesn't seem to work that way.

At least not with the things that genuinely mattered.

Some memories don't stay because you're trapped.

They stay because they became part of you.

A teacher.

A friend.

A parent.

A version of yourself that no longer exists.

The strange thing is that healing doesn't always remove their presence.

Sometimes it simply changes the role they play.

They stop interrupting every thought.

Stop deciding every choice.

Stop standing in the middle of the room.

But they remain.

And maybe that's okay.

Maybe the goal was never to erase what mattered.

Maybe the goal was to learn how to carry it without letting it carry you.

If there's something in your life that still visits quietly after all these years, you're welcome to stay for the next reflection.
