I Am My Own Name
They wanted me shaped,
poured into their frame,
but I carried my own name.
Every voice that said,
"Become like us,"
faded into the same game.
I am not your echo,
nor your borrowed flame.
I walked a different road,
answered a different claim.
My becoming
was never yours to tame.
I am my own name.
I never found my identity by rebelling against others. I simply refused to wear a name that wasn't mine.
