Don't just believe in the Lord. Try to know Him.
When you truly come to know Him, when you have tasted something of that reality for yourself, explaining Him in a simple, definite way stops being possible.
But you will certainly be able to help others move toward that experience.
Questions about the Lord and the soul are not easy to answer directly. They cannot be understood through words and reasoning alone.
Whoever has tried to define Him, their followers have often taken that definition to be the final truth. And slowly, they begin to believe that their Lord is right and everyone else's is wrong.
Sometimes even questioning what you were taught can deepen your thirst, so that instead of stopping at the version someone else has described to you, you begin to seek Him for yourself.
Don't accept something simply because someone has told you it is true. Search for yourself, and experience for yourself.
Something heard from others only forms a belief. And belief can become the greatest obstacle to genuine seeking.
From childhood, we are told who our Lord is, what our religion is, what to believe, and how to live. Slowly, curiosity is replaced by a ready-made picture. And eventually, a person stops searching.
Believing is easy. Someone said it, and we believed it.
But if you truly want to search, doubt becomes necessary, because doubt is what gives birth to a real question.
The Lord cannot be reduced to a belief. Belief gives the mind something to hold, but if what we are trying to know reaches beyond the limits of the mind, then belief alone may never be enough.
If you want to know, you must go beyond the beliefs you yourself have built.
The deepest search is not for Him at all. It is for yourself.
We define ourselves through our name, our religion, our family, our society. But these are all external identities. When a person truly turns inward, they begin to realize something unsettling. They do not really know themselves.
Who am I?
Let this question descend into you again and again, until it stops being merely words. Somewhere in that depth, turning inward, you may encounter what we call the Lord.
Don't just believe in Him.
Try to know Him.
